During the Software Development program, you’ll learn about the technology behind games, apps, websites, and other interactive media.
Software developers know better than anyone how to combine technology and creativity so that we can use these media.
Bilingual
SintLucas offers the program in a Dutch-language and a bilingual track. Your diploma will have added value if it specifies the bilingual track. If the bilingual track proves unfeasible during the program, you can always switch to the Dutch-language track. Please note: we will only offer the bilingual track and/or the Dutch track if enough students choose a particular track. After you apply, you’ll be notified whether the track of your choice will be offered.

What do I do
You will learn how to code for a variety of applications. This could include developing the technical aspects of different products, such as games and web applications. You will be encouraged to experiment and explore new possibilities.
During your programme at SintLucas, you will collaborate with students from different programmes who are responsible for the visual aspects of the projects.
What do I make?
As a software developer, you could develop, for example:
- Games
- Apps
- Web applications
- VR and AR experiences
What do I learn?
You will receive software training and learn how to code. You will also focus on programming the visual side of an application (front-end development). You will learn how to develop games, web applications and software. In addition, you will learn how to collaborate effectively, as you will work closely with fellow developers and designers. Naturally, general subjects such as Dutch, English and mathematics are also part of the programme.
Where do I do my internship?
Depending on your interests and learning goals, you will choose an internship placement. This is often at a web design or multimedia agency or within the games industry. An internship at another type of company specialising in software development is also possible.
During your internship, you will work on programming applications, websites and apps, among other things, and become familiar with different programming languages.
Watch a video of Levi’s internship at STA Software here.
What should I be able to do and like?
You are analytical, structured and creative when it comes to finding solutions. You have an affinity for technology and keep up closely with the latest developments. As a developer, you work together with other developers, digital and motion designers, and graphic designers. You are therefore a true team player.
What can I do after SintLucas?
- Web design and multimedia agencies
- Companies in the games industry or ICT sector
- Continue your studies at a university of applied sciences (HBO), for example in Computer Science & Technology (CT) at Fontys or Avans, or in Game Design/Game Development at HKU or BUas.
What are our former students doing now?
Former student Jeffery Lanters studied Software Development at SintLucas and now runs his company, Hulan, in Waalre, which develops inspiring learning experiences using serious games, gamification, and technologies such as VR, AR, and AI. Watch his story here.
How does application and admission work?
Starting October 30, 2026, you can register via the website and will receive an invitation to a matching interview. You can bring along a creative piece of work or complete an assignment, after which you will receive a positive or negative admission recommendation. You are always eligible for admission and can make an informed decision on your own. Read more about application and admission here.
If you have a question about this, please send an e-mail to aanmelding@sintlucas.nl.
Student Devin
“I really like the program. Before this, I did another MBO program myself, and I notice that I really feel at home here. Teachers make the lessons really fun by explaining the material in a funny and clear way, for example in the scripting class. I also really like the freedom you get within the program. You work a lot on technical things, but creativity is also important during this program. You learn based on your own interests. For example, I recently programmed a website entirely by myself to generate QR codes.”
