Counselling
Your school time is all about developing, discovering and learning. For this, you need to feel safe in an environment where people treat each other in a pleasant manner and pupils respect each other.
SintLucas personalizes learning as much as possible for every student. The support that is needed and possible is coordinated with the student and the parent(s)/guardian(s). View a clear visual overview of our information regarding support here.
Mentor
The mentor is the first point of contact for having conversations about, for example, your grades, attendance, work attitude, behavior, home situation, and how you are feeling. Every week there is one mentor hour and one LOB hour (career orientation and guidance). During the mentor lesson, attention is paid, among other things, to planning/organizing and how to interact with each other. During the LOB hour, the career path is discussed. What are the ambitions, qualities, and how do you envision your further career? Three times a year there is an opportunity for a meeting with the mentor together with you and your parent(s)/guardian(s).

Support Team
SintLucas vmbo has two student counsellors (one for the junior and one for the senior years). If you have a problem that the mentor cannot solve, the student counsellor will step in. Together with you and your mentor, she will look for a suitable solution.
If help is needed from outside the school, we will arrange it. The pupil supervisor does this in consultation with our support coordinator.
Guidance Coordinator
SintLucas VMBO has a guidance coordinator for each school year. If you have a question or need help that your mentor cannot provide, it will be referred to the guidance coordinator. Together with you and your mentor, they will look at what kind of support is needed. If help from outside the school is required, we arrange this together with your parent(s)/guardian(s) and in consultation with the support team.
Support Coordinator
The support coordinator chairs the support team and oversees all forms of support within the school.
Educational Psychologist
The educational psychologist may become involved when there are social, emotional, or learning-related concerns. They may, for example, carry out classroom observations or initiate an assessment. The educational psychologist can only be involved with the consent of you and your parent(s)/guardian(s).

Study Skills Support and Homework Class
Study Skills Support
Study skills support is short-term, one-on-one guidance provided during school hours by a teaching assistant or teacher. It takes place once a week for a period of 6 to 8 weeks and focuses on planning, organization, and learning strategies. Together with your mentor and your parent(s)/guardian(s), you will decide whether this support is needed.
Homework Class
All SintLucas students can make use of the homework class every day from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to do homework or study under supervision. Participation can be voluntary or, in consultation with you and your parent(s)/guardian(s), required.
Dyslexia Support
For students with dyslexia, there is a dyslexia coach and a dyslexia coordinator. They are responsible for the dyslexia policy, training and advising the teaching staff, and supporting students with dyslexia (see the dyslexia policy).
Dutch as a Second Language (NT2)
For NT2 students, there is an NT2 coordinator and NT2 coach. They are responsible for the NT2 policy, training and advising the teaching staff, and supporting NT2 students (see the NT2 policy).
Facilities
Facilities can be requested for students with social, emotional, and/or learning difficulties. These facilities are recorded on a facility pass. Examples include extra time for tests or a time-out to relax. More information can be found on the page practical information. This animated film explains how the facilities policy works.

Extra Support
If students are, for any reason, significantly hindered in completing their school career, we will explore whether and how we can provide additional support or adjustments. Each student receives a tailored plan, customized to the school’s possibilities. The use of extra support is recorded in a Development Perspective Plan (OPP) in consultation with all parties involved.
Ongoing Individual Support
A support coach from the support team (OT) is assigned to provide ongoing, individual support to the student in their (school) functioning and to advise the teaching staff on classroom approaches. Weekly individual guidance depends on the student’s needs and support requirements. The support focuses on social, emotional, and/or learning areas. Wherever possible, the guidance aims to promote the student’s self-reliance and independence to better prepare them for further education.
Internal Support Provision (IOV)
At SintLucas, we have an Internal Support Provision (IOV). This is intended for (short-term) educational programs when a student is temporarily unable to fully participate in class due to (external) circumstances. IOV students come from SintLucas as well as from other schools within the RSV-PVO Eindhoven-Kempenland network. Each student in the IOV receives a customized program designed to help them return, in phases, to their own class or another suitable placement as soon as possible.
Tailored Programs
Some students, due to medical and/or psychological circumstances, cannot follow a full educational program. In these cases, we consult with the student, parent(s)/guardian(s), external parties (such as healthcare providers, GGD, or compulsory education authorities, collaborative guidance teams), the teaching staff, and/or the examination committee to determine what is needed. A gradual integration or development plan is then created.
