What do I do?

After the foundation year, you’ll choose between Media Manager or Media Editor. Based on this choice, in Years 2 and 3 you’ll specialise in Media & Content, Entertainment or Events, or develop a broad range of skills across all these areas.

Media & Content: In this specialism, you’ll create content for social media, websites and campaigns. You’ll organise productions involving various creators, ensure the message is consistent, draw up schedules and advise on media usage. You’ll also manage social media channels and maintain websites.

Entertainment: Here, you’ll work on productions for film, television, podcasts and live shows. You’ll draw up scripts and schedules, liaise with the crew and ensure that filming days run smoothly. Together with the editorial team, you’ll decide which footage and text are required and learn how to organise and manage a media production.

Events: In this specialisation, you’ll create experiences for festivals, sporting events and other live activities. You’ll draw up scripts and crew rosters, work alongside technicians and hospitality teams, and help with set-up, backstage and on the floor. You’ll learn to resolve unexpected situations immediately and to prepare for and execute an event effectively.

What will I learn?

You become a creative producer mainly through hands-on learning. During the course, you’ll work on assignments for real clients. You’ll develop skills in media production, project management, creative thinking, concept development and research. You’ll learn copywriting, how to create social media content and how to use various software packages. You’ll also take general subjects such as Dutch, English, maths and citizenship.

Where will I do my work placement?

You choose an internship that suits your interests and learning goals. Possible internships include:

  • Advertising agency, field marketing agency, social media agency or communications department
  • Working for an influencer or a fashion company
  • Festival organisers, trade fair organisers, e-sports event agencies or conference centres
  • Television and film production companies, streaming services, radio or podcast producers

Student Floor did an internship at Maaspoort in Venlo. Watch the video here. Watch the video of Lindsay’s internship at SuperRebel here and the video of Lennie’s internship at Fun Beach Event & Leisurepark here.

What skills do I need, and what should I enjoy?

As a creative producer, you have a talent for organising and coordinating projects in collaboration with others. You find it easy to connect with people, whether they are designers, technicians, managers or marketers. You are also good at coming up with creative solutions. You see opportunities where others give up, and deadlines motivate you rather than stress you out.

You are curious and always know what is new, popular and happening. You keep a close eye on trends in the media world and enjoy going out and gaining new experiences and inspiration. If you are interested in the communications side of the field, you naturally enjoy writing, are good at empathising with others and are active on social media.

What can I do after SintLucas?

After graduating from SintLucas, there are plenty of opportunities to start working. As a creative producer, you can work in many different fields: in the world of entertainment, communications or events. You can of course also start your own business or work as a freelancer.

Would you like to continue your studies at a university of applied sciences (HBO)? Then programmes in areas such as communications, Creative Business, journalism, commercial economics and event management are a good fit.

How does the application and admission process work?

From 30 October 2026, you can apply for the programme via the website. Once you’ve applied, you’ll receive an invitation to a matching interview with a lecturer and a student, during which we’ll discuss together whether you and SintLucas are a good fit. You can bring along some of your creative work or complete an assignment in preparation. After the interview, you’ll receive a study recommendation – either positive or negative – but you’ll always be eligible for admission and will ultimately make an informed decision yourself. Read more about application and admission here.

If you have any questions about this, please send an email to aanmelding@sintlucas.nl.

Leanne, a student:

“The creative producer course is really practice-oriented. In the first year, we’ve already visited lots of companies. I really enjoyed that! It gives you a good insight into what a creative producer does in a real-world setting. Coming up with creative ideas is also an important part of this course. For example, we were set the task of devising and organising our own talk show. Planning and organising really suit me!”
