Do you enjoy working with your hands? Do you like to come up with ideas, design, and create unique products? In the Creative Craftsman program, you’ll do a lot of hands-on work.
You’ll conceive, design, and create unique, handcrafted products. In addition to bringing your own ideas to life, you’ll also work on commissions for clients.
Within your field, you’ll learn a variety of techniques and use different machines and tools to create high-quality products.
During your first year, you’ll work with a variety of materials. You’ll develop skills and become familiar with the various studios at SintLucas:

What am I doing?
During the program, you’ll spend a lot of time in the studios working on assignments that involve creating high-quality products. You’ll design, sketch, and create technical drawings, and experiment with materials. You’ll work with a variety of machines and tools and develop modern craftsmanship through a combination of manual skills and digital techniques.
What am I making?
In the glass program, you’ll design and restore stained glass and create hot-glass objects. In the ceramics program, you’ll create unique pieces or small series using techniques such as wheel-throwing, casting, modeling, glazing, and 3D printing. In the leather program, you’ll design bags, shoes, and accessories, both for your own projects and for commissioned work. In the textiles program, you’ll work with knitting, weaving, tufting, pattern design, and hat-making for fashion, interior design, industry, and art.
What am I learning?
You’ll take classes in general subjects and also learn drawing, design, materials science, traditional craft techniques, cost calculation, entrepreneurship, and digital skills.

What should I be able to do and like?
You have an eye for materials and design and possess spatial and technical insight. You keep up with developments in design, craftsmanship, interior design, fashion, and sustainability; you enjoy working with your hands; you can translate a (digital) design into a finished product; and you experiment with materials and new techniques.
What can I do after SintLucas?
After completing the program, you can start your own business or work in a studio or the corporate sector. You can also continue your studies, for example, in a higher professional education program in art, product design, design, interior design, or a teacher training program for creative subjects.

How registration and admission works
Starting October 30, 2026, you can register via the website and will receive an invitation to a matching interview. You can bring along a creative piece of work or complete an assignment, after which you will receive a positive or negative admission recommendation. You are always eligible for admission and can make an informed decision on your own.Read more about application and admission here.

“From a young age, I knew I wanted to do something creative. I visited the program during the open house, and that gave me a really good idea of the possibilities within the Design & Crafts track. The examples of students’ work got me excited. “One of my favorite assignments in the first year was creating a Royal Ascot hat. This was a free-form assignment from the textile track where we were allowed to come up with and create the design ourselves. For this assignment, I didn’t just use textiles; I also experimented with techniques and materials from other studios. I learned a lot from this experience.”
