Do you love the smell of wood, the feeling of working with your hands and making something that stays real?
SintLucas is developing a course to train professionals specialising in woodworking. This course will start in school year 2026-2027. With this, SintLucas fits in even better with the talents of our students and with the demand from the business world. Wood is a beautiful, versatile material that is becoming increasingly precious. Professionals with the right knowledge and skills and an eye for quality can process wood into beautiful products. During the programme, you will learn how to design and make unique, high-quality products made of wood, such as furniture and accessories.

What am I learning?
You will learn modern and traditional woodworking techniques and how to apply them in practice. You will often work for a client. You will make products mainly made of wood and ensure that the design and use match the requirements of the job. You carry out the entire process yourself, right up to the finished product that can be sold directly to the client. You spend a lot of time working in the (wood) workshop. You will also learn skills you need to work as an independent entrepreneur.
Where do I do my internship?
Based on your interests, you choose an internship in the workshops of furniture companies, interior design companies or other companies where products are made of wood.
What do I need?
Materials excite your curiosity and you like to discover the possibilities of tools and machines. You have technical and spatial insight and enjoy working with your hands. You have an eye for detail, always aim for top quality and you are creative.
What can I do after SintLucas?
After your studies, you can make products from wood independently. You combine traditional skills with the use of modern woodworking machines and deliver custom-made products of high quality. You can work independently, for example from your own workshop, or as an employee of a company or furniture designer. Many graduates combine part-time work at a company with working in their own workshop. Further study at an art academy, such as the Willem de Kooning Academy, Design Academy or ArtEZ, is of course also possible.
How registration and admission works
You apply from 31 October 2025 (09.00) via our website for the programme of your choice. After your application, you will receive an invitation for a matching interview at SintLucas. During an interview with a teacher and student from the study programme of your choice, we will check together whether you and SintLucas are a match. Above all, we have an open and relaxed conversation so you can make a good study choice. In preparation for the interview, you can bring (creative) work with you. It is also possible to make an assignment. After the interview, you will receive a study advice. This advice can be positive (we think you fit in with SintLucas and the study programme) or negative (we think another school and study programme would suit you better). Even with a negative recommendation, you are admissible at SintLucas. We trust that with our advice you will make a good study choice. Read more about application and admission here.
