Although society runs on MBO graduates, their image is not always positive. And something needs to change quickly, agrees our MBO ambassador Iris Bartels. She follows the course Creative Craftsman Textile. Iris represents SintLucas as a MBO ambassador during the national elections in team Zuid. During the MBO Ambassador Gala on 13 May, part of ‘This is mbo’ of the MBO Council, they will present their ideas to put mbo on the map.
Iris: “What I love about Ambassadors 2024 is that everyone in team Zuid has the drive to ‘do’. No one can sit still, everyone wants to get straight to work. And even though we are quite different, we complement each other perfectly. Many people saw me going to college and maybe university after havo. I followed my instincts, started working with my hands and got practical every day. Many young people do not dare to make such a choice, which sometimes leads to mental problems, drop out, or stop their education. The MBO can really be a solution in this. The Netherlands needs professionals, but also happy young people.”
Livestream MBO Ambassador Gala
Iris and her fellow students will share their ideas during the MBO Ambassador Gala, which takes place on Monday 13 May at 18.30 in Amersfoort. Each team will be given one minute to present their idea. The winning team will get the chance to implement the idea at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
