Training in making and delivering effective PowerPoint presentations

Technically putting together a PowerPoint presentation most of us can manage. Choosing a template, inserting bullet points, a chart here, an image there – that’s often fine. But a presentation that really hits the spot, that is accurate in content, visually supported plus being able to present it well and keep your audience captivated from start to finish? That’s another story.

Who is this training for?

For anyone who ever gives a presentation – whether it is to colleagues, students, clients, an exam committee or an audience during an event.

For anyone whose work involves…

  • Regularly uses PowerPoint, but wants to learn how to make it really stronger and more visual.
  • Want to let the content of a presentation speak for itself, without lapsing into long pieces of text or unclear slides.
  • Want to present better with more impact, confidence and peace of mind.

What am I learning?

You learn how to build a presentation that really sticks. Not just how PowerPoint works technically, but especially how to get your story across clearly and engagingly – with slides that support your message instead of taking over. You will get tips on structure, image use, visual rest and how to keep your audience engaged.

What will I be able to do after the PowerPoint training?

Then you will have everything you need to:

  • Create powerful presentations that are clear and attractive.
  • Captivate your audience and understand what they need.
  • Use PowerPoint as a visual enhancer of your story, instead of a distracting script.

What to bring. (in preparation for the training)

  1. An existing PowerPoint presentation
Which you yourself are not completely satisfied with – for example, in terms of structure, content, visual design or effect on your audience.
  2. A concrete topic or plan
What you want to give a presentation about soon – for work, study or a project, for example.
  3. Target audience description
Who are you going to address? What do they already know, what do they need to know? Think in advance about the level of knowledge, interest and expectations of your audience.
  4. Your main message
What is the main idea you want to convey? Can you already summarise this in one sentence?
  5. Laptop with PowerPoint
So that you can work directly on your own presentation during the training.
  6. Any visuals or materials
Think of graphics, images or house style guidelines you might want to use in your presentation.

Who gives the training?

The training will be given by Antoine Kroes, creative director of the marketing communications agency SMART4branding. With 30 years of experience in design, strategy and presentation – as well as 10 years as a teacher – he knows better than anyone how to bring content and form together to create a story that sticks.
