What am I learning?

Adobe Illustrator is a versatile drawing programme. It is also Adobe’s oldest programme, with the most history and packed with possibilities. If you are a designer, infographic maker, or someone dealing with corporate identities or all kinds of other drawing work, you will benefit from this training in Adobe Illustrator.

The training is a constant alternation between explanation, application, understanding and doing. Naturally, there is plenty of room for asking questions. Depending on the time available, there will be room for additional explanations, more examples and even more exercises.

What will I be able to do after Adobe Illustrator training?

After basic Adobe Illustrator training, you can expect to have gained the following skills and knowledge:

1. Understanding the Interface: You will become familiar with the Illustrator workspace, menus, tool panels, and how to customise the workspace to suit your needs.
2. Using Basic Tools: You will learn how to work with the selection and drawing tools, such as the Pen tool, Shape tools, and the Type tool.
3. Layers and Organisation: You get an understanding of how layers work in Illustrator and how to organise and manage objects within your projects.
4. Colour Management: You learn how to choose and apply colours, including how to use spot colours and create colour palettes.
5. Typography Basics: You will learn how to add and edit text, and how to adjust typographic settings such as font, size, alignment, and line spacing.
6. Vector Basics: You will understand what vector drawings are and how to create and edit paths and anchor points.
7. Simple Shapes and Patterns: You will learn how to create simple shapes and patterns and how to transform and combine them to create more complex designs.
8. Basic Effects and Transformations: You get to experiment with simple effects such as shadows, gloids, and transformations such as scaling, rotating and distorting.
9. File Management: You will learn how to save, export and manage Illustrator files for different media, such as print and web.
10. Basic Workflow: You will gain insight into a typical workflow for designing with Illustrator, from setting up a document to exporting the final product.
