experience
Designing a poster or website or working on a magazine. This is what Sanne Minten, a third-year All-round media maker student, does during her internship at Inkoppers. She works on real projects and experiences what it means to work as a designer at an agency.
A great internship
Inkoppers is a company dedicated to branding. From developing corporate identities to designing digital ads. Owner and creative director Jarno Fransen says: “We are a small company, but our creativity is big. We have diverse clients from educational institutions to office furniture. That also makes the design process fun and diverse. “Sanne is right at home at Inkoppers. “The nice thing about my internship is that I work on real projects,” says Sanne enthusiastically. “I mainly deal with designs. Starting from an existing house style, I design brochures, flyers, logos, websites, business cards and stationery. For this, I work with design programmes such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.”

Your own design
One of the projects Sanne is working on is designing a language fan. This educational product helps children learn about language in a playful and easy way. “For this design, I had to take good account of the target group, which sometimes also has difficulties with language,” Sanne explains. “I created not only the design, but also the illustrations. I also made a test version of the language fan to test the design with the target group. What Sanne likes best about her course is that she actually sees her designs reflected as end products. “A brochure, flyer, poster or packaging is actually printed. Even the language fan has become a tangible product. That makes it super fun. I like being executive.”

New energy and fresh perspective
Jarno Fransen enjoys working with interns. “It’s nice to be able to teach young designers something,” he says. “In addition, it is nice to see their growth during the internship period. Interns bring a fresh perspective, new input and an innovative view on projects. Moreover, it is nice that they can also think and work with us on different projects we do,” Jarno says.
At Inkoppers, interns are given their own responsibility. “We often throw them in the deep end the first few days and see what they come up with themselves,” Jarno says. As an intern at Inkoppers, you also have more time and space to explore and experiment. Jarno: “That’s also the nice thing about an internship, that you have time and space for this! Students with a proactive attitude are important to us. And what else is important as an All-round media maker according to Jarno? “Having an eye for quality. You have to develop ‘feelers’ for good design. You do this through knowledge but especially through experience. An internship is an important part of developing these feelers.”
